Hongqiao State Guest Hotel Shanghai

My experience here was excellent. The site is gorgeous, the staff was great, the room was stylish and clean and breakfast was good too. I didn't get to see the fitness center, but if it's at par with the other facilities, it should be nice too :)

There is more to this hotel than meets the eye, apparently some of the buildings are reserved for state officials and I think they film a Chinese soap opera here as well. Location here is actually really good if you are here doing import/export work, there are a variety of expo grounds, international conference centers and wholesale markets within reasonable distances (15 minutes cab?).

Shanghai is a very grim city, there are no real parks, just a few blocks covered by shrubbery and trees with preset concrete paths in them, kind of like a lawn-covered rat mazes, so the big gardens here with all their greenery and flowers are very refreshing.

Staff is very courteous and there are many English speakers, so service is no problem, not quite as engaging as their Western counterparts, but still good. The indoor pool is also really nice, definitely a good place for a nice swim and then to chill with a book or something. All told, at the price point they've set, this place is extremely competitive with the other five stars, but I think its usefulness is limited to those with business in Shanghai's Hongqiao area.

Quiet, clean, classy, an oasis in a megalopolis, but a little out of the way, sums this place up. The gardens are probably the best feature of the hotel, they are very spacious and there are many aromatic plants so the air smells nicer in the hotel gardens than out on the street. The thick foliage from all the tropical trees serve to muffle the sounds of the city, so you'll find your rooms to be dead quiet, in Shanghai, with all the construction and traffic, that can be hard to find.

Rooms are definitely nice, spacious, immaculately clean and pretty luxurious, so you'll definitely feel relaxed and pampered here, but the level of material quality and the quality of service I can't say is true five star. Still, this place is cheap compared to major Western 5 star brands, and when you factor that in, you start to see that you're getting a good value. Sadly, you are at least half an hour away from anything good, don't expect to be able to walk to anything interesting. Only the airport is nearby, if you try to go out during rush our, it might take you 60-90 minutes.

It is not as good as people said. The room is large, but a bit noisy.

I have stayed there several times and always enjoyed my stay. The hotel is close to the zoo and very suitable for family vacations.

Stayed there for two nights. The materials and facilities are of good quality. The prices are competive for Shanghai too. Services are good.

Location is not very convinent though. I arrived late, and was told I was going to be "upgarded" to an executive room in Building #1. But I found the room there to be even older and smaller than my original room: a standard room in Building #6.

The Garden is quiet and beautiful, and loved by birds. Our room had a balcony, which really added a feeling of spaciousness and allowed for a nice breeze to change the air in the room. Lovely hotel indeed. Really good place to be based for a family holiday.

酒店位置好，环境优美。在上海这个大都市有这样环境的酒店着实不多，不愧是“迎”酒店，政府接待场所。那种大气的建筑，幽静的环境，生生的在闹市中给你开辟出一处商务 休闲 度假的绝佳场所。房间也很干净，每次出去后服务员都会给房间打扫干净，很周到，很安静。下次还会入住的。

在预订时还不确定是否符合自己的要求，check in 后发现酒店环境相当不错，几乎无噪音，早餐也丰富，服务到位，下次还会选择！

有超大的花园。是虹桥地区的首选酒店。房间略显老旧但是服务到位。
唯一缺点就是离商业设施远了一点。
