My boyfriend and I planned a romantic holiday getaway to Sanya, and I was in charge of finding a hotel. After spending ages considering the choices, I decided to go for Timton because the price was alright, it''s a 5 star (which usually guarantees quality, cleanliness and customer service), close to the airport, a big TV with cable channels, a jacuzzi in each room, internet, and a gym. (This information I got from Ctrip, and other Googled sites.)
We were VERY happy with the result. The hotel is beautiful, with a huge pool in the back. The pool was very nice, but a bit cold. There was also a sauna (very relaxing) and a kiddy pool with a slide that looked like fun. There are 2 restaurants (Western + Chinese), we only ate at the Western and it was very good (not excellent, but very good for China). Breakfast, great. Room service was THE BEST: cheap, fast, and outstanding customer service from the staff. Pool table was good. Staff were friendly all-round.
I have to mention their English wasn''t good, only a few staff members were competent. Best to try communicate in Mandarin.
Room and bathroom were big and clean. Room could see into bathroom though, so not good for those who need individual privacy. Jacuzzi was tiny, and we didn''t end up using it because it was too cold, and I was annoyed by the flying bugs outside. Shower water was perfect, TV and in-room air conditioning all good.
Sanya is beautiful by the beach (quadbikes and coconuts!), but the city is pretty dirty and smelly. We stuck to the shopping centres, which were cheap, as most shopping is in China.
Only recommendations are: no full-length mirror in the room, and no wifi (an internet cable is provided, but only one connection possible). It''s hard to get a taxi from the hotel to the airport (distance too short?); we ended up accepting a taxi''s driver''s asking of a bribe.
All in all, the perfect holiday. Not too expensive for excellent quality. Highly recommended.
