A great place to go to really enjoy the sea coast quietly.
The hotel is just facing the beach, which is perfect to make the most of Qingdao's seaside. Too bad though there is the road with quite poor sound insulation. Not a big issue as there is little traffic but should be improved.
Shilaoren beach is quite nice and clean with not only a few tourists.
There is virtually no convenient store or the like around (at least 20 min wlaking distance). So better suited for people with a car, though I managed by foot and enough time on my hands.
On the plus side there are outdoor dining tables, which is really enjoyable, especially when the have BBQ at night :)
It's also quite convenient to get a taxi and go to the city center. 20-30 yuan to go to badaguan for example.
To make it a perfect retreat-stay, the hotel should offer nicer rooms. Here you have the typical chinese impersonal rooms you could find in any mainland hotel with aging furniture. A bit of decorating or tasty choice of furniture would make it comfy.
The service would also need an upgrade. I found them quite inefficient towards me, also treating me as a dumb foreign tourist while I manage to come alone and speak fluent mandarin. Not used yet to this type of guest maybe?
So enojoy the location if you're looking for a quiet retreat, but don't expect too much from the hotel itself. |
