"Biggest", "fastest" and "tallest" are adjectives you often see describing the new China. And the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel (Aomen Weinisiren Dujiacun Jiudian), modeled after its sister, the Venetian in Las Vegas, is no exception to the rule. Setting the luxury bar high, the Venetian is equipped with almost every deluxe amenity imaginable.

Opened in August 2007, this 40-story, $1.9 billion dollar resort is made for family vacations as much as it is for high rollers. The 10,500,000-square-foot hotel is alleged to be the largest single-structure hotel building in Asia and the second largest in building the world (large enough to hold 90 Boeing 747 jumbo jets), and it packs a lot of entertainment value into that huge space.

3,000 luxury suites make it the largest casino in the world (550,000 square feet), with 34,000 slot machines, 800 gaming tables and a concert hall seating 15,000.

The main leisure area on level five houses multiple swimming pools, jacuzzis, a luxurious spa and the fitness center.

Elsewhere, a full-scale replica of a Venetian canal district comes complete with gondolas, gondoliers and canals (this is all indoors, by the way). In another area, ceilings painted to photorealistic perfection describe an internal sky.

In short, if you like Vegas, you'll love the Venetian Macao.

The Venetian is also making a name for itself as a major concert venue, hosting big-name concerts by the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, the Pussycat Dolls, the Police and Celine Dion since it opened.
