Quite difficult to find as located across bridge (opposite gas station). Taxi driver called and representative from Melody Inn came over to meet us in the dark with a flashlight as also many stairs to negotiate. Received very warm welcome on arrival and room was pleasant surprise. Twin beds (very hard) with clean, well presented linen. Lovely balcony area with table and chairs overlooking river; perfect spot to view all the lights at night. Bathroom was disappointing as toilet did not flush properly and shower took quite some time to drain. Location great, easy to walk along river or through narrow streets filled with local handicraft stalls and far enough away to not be bothered by noise from bars/karaoke.
Service was exceptional with staff advising buses to catch to long journey train station and even writing step by step directions in Chinese so we could seek help along the way. Jamie organised a taxi for our trip to Jishou on morning of departure and kindly helped by carrying our luggage across the bridge! Would recommend Melody Inn and will stay again next time we visit FengHuang. |
