Helped my dad to book this hotel for a short 3 nights trip in Beijing. During his check in process, there were 2 girls and one guy who were in charge in the receptionist. After providing all passports, one of the girl started to ask for the deposit payment. The total was RMB4500. My dad took the money out of his bag, counted it carefully and passed the RMB4500 to one of the receptionist girl.
However one BIG mistake that my dad has made was chatting with his colleague after passing the money to the receptionist girl.
The receptionist girl put the money into the electronic money counter thing on the desk behind where they were standing, and the number shows up only 38 were counted, which means there were only RMB3800 in total. The other girl then started to ask my dad the remaining RMB700.
Confused my dad asked again if they can count the money once again on the machine but expected now, the number still shows up 38. He was very sure that he counted the money before passing it to the girl, and there was nothing that he could do to prove it, he was about to give the remaining RMB700 again but luckily his colleague told him to check the receptionist desk, until then they both found out that the money 7 x RMB100 on the floor where the 2 girls and one guy were standing.
After my dad pointed those bills on the floor, the girl just simply started to collect those bills from the floor without saying any single word, not even a simple "Sorry".
7 x RMB100 was spread on the floor where three people walking and standing around them, you TELL me if it is any possible it happened accidentally.
Just be very careful.
